Nature’s key to Climate Change Adaptation
A Qualitative Research on Local Achievements and Occurring Lock-ins

Global climatic changes to affect both natural systems as indirectly ecosystem services. Focussing on climatic changes is needed, with a scope on mitigation and adaptation. However most effort is, over the years, given to mitigation. Adaptation is, althouhg, a crucial aspects when it comes to policies to climate change.
Institutions, infrastructures, technologies and societal behaviors are currently lacking to change, leading to a status quo in policy implementation of adaptation to climatic changes. This is known as a lock-in. This scientific article will focus on lock-ins on the aforementions aspects, in order to better understand the ocurrence of lock-ins in CCA policies. The focus of this scientific article is based on local efforts to CCA, in the field of nature conservation and biodiversity, and the occurrence of lock-ins. The research area is the ‘Geuldal’. A Natura 2000 area in the South of the Netherlands. Next to picture occuring lock-ins, the final goal is to make recommendation for future policy developments and the implementation of policies.
